good morning coffee

I never really drank much coffee until I quit my teaching job and became a stay at home mom.  Well…not really a stay at home mom, because my kids are grown, so maybe I could call myself a stay at home old mom!  Anyway, I never really thought about a good cup of coffee until I started drinking it and found that a watered down cup of coffee tastes terrible!  If you drink a lot of coffee, then you know that you need a good coffee maker to make a really good cup of joe!  If you like great coffee, then I would recommend that you invest in a good brewer.

How Do You Pick A Good Coffee Maker?

There are all kinds of brewers from percolators to single serve coffee makers to bean-to-cup coffee machines.  When looking for a good brewer, there are several things to consider:

  • Durability:  Make sure you buy one that is durable, not one that will break easily or rust out.  A good model will last for a very long time, where a cheap model won’t.
  • Taste:  I think every coffee drinker would agree that the taste of their cup of joe is of the utmost importance.  You don’t want a brewer that gets so hot that your coffee has a burnt taste.  A good model won’t have this problem.
  • Flexibility:  There are those of us that don’t always want coffee.  Instead, we would like to have an espresso or a cappuccino.  A good brewer will give you more options to choose from.  There are those that will make iced beverages, teas, espressos and cappuccinos to name a few!

Some other features you should consider are:

  • The amount of cups the model makes.  I personally like the single serve coffee maker but if there are a lot of coffee drinkers in your house, you might want a model that brews enough coffee for everyone.  A bigger machine that makes 10 to 12 cups at a time might be a better pick if you’re brewing coffee for several people.
  • Timers.  This is not something that is needed but it is a feature that comes in handy.  Most would agree that having your coffee ready and waiting for you is an added convenience.
  • Grinders.  Some coffee makers have built-in grinders which allow you to enjoy a fresh cup of brew.  Having a built-in grinder eliminates the need for a separate grinder.
  • Insulated mug or carafe.  If you are one of those that drinks coffee throughout the day, a model that has an insulated mug or carafe might be something that you would want to consider.  These two items will help keep your coffee hot and tasting fresh for several hours.
  • Automatic off.  An automatic off is always good to have especially if you tend to forget to turn your appliances off.

When buying a coffee machine, it is a good idea to buy a model from a brand you trust.  Make sure you can find replacement parts and the machine has a warranty.  A warranty is especially important if you are buying an expensive model and keep in mind that it is always a good idea to research the coffee maker you are planning to buy.

If you want good coffee, then it is probably a good idea to invest in a good coffee maker; especially if you drink a lot of coffee!
