OMG!  Have you been outside lately?   It is getting oh so hot!   And as the temperature is rising, those nice hot cups of coffee that we were enjoying only a few months ago aren’t as appealing.  Hot drinks aren’t as delicious when the mercury climbs, but coffee never loses its appeal, so why not serve iced coffee!  Now, that is a really great idea!

Iced Coffee @ Kava Cafe

Coffee tastes best when it is hot or when it is cold.  Hot coffee is delicious and so is iced coffee.  A cup of joe that is in between those two temperature extremes just doesn’t taste as good.  In fact, some would say that it is totally awful and just unacceptable.  Coffee that is luke warm, tepid or slightly cool just doesn’t have the same taste as a hot cup of joe.  I don’t know why it doesn’t taste as good as a hot cup of brew, but what I do know is that hot coffee is good and so is iced coffee!

Coffee doesn’t stay hot for a long period of time but you can keep iced coffee cold for as long as you want.  The best way to make iced coffee is to brew a pot of coffee and immediately pour it into a container that can be refrigerated once it is finished brewing.  Before you refrigerate it, stir in your favorite flavored coffee syrup.  Coffee syrups dissolve well in hot coffee.  I’m a French Vanilla type of girl, so I stir in French Vanilla Syrup!  All I have to say is…Delicious!  When the coffee cools, place the container in the refrigerator and once it is cold, your coffee will be ready to drink!

One thing I don’t like about iced coffee is that when the ice melts, my coffee is watery.  To prevent this from happening, freeze some coffee in some ice cube trays and use them instead of regular ice cubes.  You can also freeze your coffee ice cubes the way you normally drink your coffee; i.e., with cream and sugar, vanilla creamer, hazelnut, french vanilla, etc.  Yummy!  Thus, when you make your iced coffee it is already the flavor you like!

You can also use your Keurig to make iced coffee.  The Keurig Starbucks Sweetened Iced Coffee K-Cups might just be right up your alley!  You should check them out!  I gotta say that plopping a K-Cup in your Keurig has to be the easiest way to make a cup of iced coffee!  Just sayin’!

There are many ways to jazz up your iced coffee.  You can try one of the several thousand iced coffee recipes that are on the internet!  A lot of these recipes will call for the use of whipped cream.  There are many recipes for flavored whipped cream that will make your iced coffee drinks oh so yummy!  Why not give it a try!
