The Gaggia 14101 Classic Espresso Machine is a great unit for making hot beverages at home.  It includes all the benefits of a commercial system, combining advanced technology with a classic design.  This appliance is designed in Italy by Gaggia, one of the most respected names in the espresso industry.

The Gaggia Classic is a commercial grade machine made of stainless steel housing with a high power 17-1/2 bar pump and a high-voltage boiler which makes for quick warm-up times.  This unit is made from heavy duty materials for longevity including the portafilters and grouphead that are made of heavy-duty marine-grade brass with chrome plating.  It also uses the standard 58 millimeter filters that give it plenty of room for brewing blends of rich, full espresso.

Coffee pods can be used in this unit and two cups of your choice of beverage can be made at the same time.  This machine also has a hot water dispenser to make tea, hot chocolate, instant soup, or anything else that can be made with hot water.  It also has a frothing wand for crema and a cup warmer.  Accessories that are included with this machine are a single and double shot stainless steel filter basket, a coffee tamper, and a 7 gram measuring scoop.

You might also like to know that it has a 72 ounce water reservoir that can be removed and is easy to fill or clean.  This is the perfect espresso machine as well as a great coffee maker, if you want to be a “Barista” in your own home!

Customer Reviews

Most consumers seem to be pleased with their Gaggia 14101.  Most of the star ratings that were given to this unit were either 4 or 5 stars with a few that were 1, 2 and 3 star ratings.  Most users say that this is a great unit, it’s good looking, and it makes a deeply satisfying espresso with rich crema every time.  It might be a bit pricey, but consumers seem to think it is worth every penny.

Most think this unit is a good machine to start out with.  It is built well and some go so far as to say that it is built like a tank.  Construction of the machine is very sturdy and it feels and acts like it is industrial grade.  It’s efficient, boils fast, has a large water compartment and a powerful pump.  The set up is easy, it’s easy to use, and easy to clean.

This Gaggia 14101 is a great investment option if you like espresso.  In the long run, it will be a lot cheaper to buy this machine than going to your favorite coffee house every day to buy an espresso!

Pros & Cons

ProsPros:  The Gaggia Classic’s portafilter and brew group are substantial and well-made.  The toggle switches are easy to use, the water reservoir is easy to fill, it’s not too noisy, and the shots are aromatic and full of crema every time.  It’s a good looking machine that fits nicely on a kitchen counter top.  The Gaggia Classic is a good entry level machine that will produce consistent espresso shots every time.

ConConss:  The Gaggia Classic is a little pricey but well worth the money spent in the long run.  Some users have complained about the steaming wand and the plastic tamper that comes with the machine.  You might want to look into a substantial tamper like the Clear Espresso Tamper Stainless Steel 58 Mm Coffee.  Several consumers have mentioned that the plastic one that comes with the unit is kind of junky.  They say that it will tamp the coffee but a nicer metal one will do better.
