When you are making your own coffee at home, there are some tools that you might want to consider purchasing.  I’m sure that if you are like most of us, you will want to wake up to that perfect cup of brew!  Since you’re brewing your coffee at home, everything is within your control so you can have that great cup of joe. 

To get that perfect cup of brew, I suggest you start by roasting your coffee.  It’s probably a good idea to try different coffee roasts to see which one you like best.  It’s also a good idea to try different kinds of coffee beans.  The kind of coffee beans you roast as well as the amount of time you roast them is up to you.  You will need to experiment to discover what’s best for you!

Are you one of those java drinkers that doesn’t like plastic parts in their coffee maker?  Do you believe that “Hot Water + Plastic = Bad”?  And if you aren’t one of those people, you might be wondering why I am even writing about this topic?  There are a couple of reasons why hot water coming into contact with plastic can be bad for of us.  One is that it makes the coffee taste bad and the other is estrogens.

Those people that can taste the plastic in their beverages use stainless steel electric kettles to heat their water.  You might think that the taste of plastic isn’t that bad, but there is that estrogen thing to think about.  The problem with this is that the compounds in the plastic that are called plasticizers can be estrogenic and carcinogenic.  If you want to minimize your estrogenic exposure you should get a stainless steel kettle and get rid of your plastic kettle.
